The study of mathematics provides every student with opportunities for growth and development in the areas of logic, analytical
and conceptual thinking, and problem-solving skills. The tools that mathematics provide are integral to opportunities and choices
that lie ahead for all Fenn students. The goal of the department is to empower each student with these tools and to promote within
each student a sense of curiosity, enthusiasm, confidence and accomplishment in mathematics.
The instructional emphasis is placed on developing both an intuitive and skill-based foundation in mathematics. Classes seek to make connections
among mathematical topics and promote an active, inquiry-based learning environment. Open-ended tasks, collaborative activities, and individual
projects provide opportunities for written and oral expression and promote a sense of curiosity.
